ZAO Metallurgicheskiy zavod Petrostal (Metallurgical Plant Petrostal Closed JSC) is a diversified enterprise specializing in metallurgy and machine building with a complete cycle of metal working ranging from steel melting to making finished parts on modern metallurgical and metal-working equipment.
The Plant produces and supplies to consumers:
- Round, square and strip section rolled products from steel made at its own steel plant;
- Shaped castings with a mass of 1 to 6,000 kg from pig iron, steel and nonferrous alloys;
- Forgings with a mass of up to 6 tons obtained by the open forging method, including axle blanks for
all kinds of rolling stock of railroads; - Stampings with a mass of 0.05 to 200 kg obtained by forging on die-forging hammers, presses and
horizontal forging machines; - Parts and spares for machine building, rail transport, the oil and atomic industry, housing and
communal facilities; - Structural metal for construction.
Manufacture of quality metal products, raising their competitiveness are the priority lines of the enterprise's activities. These goals are achieved by:

ZAO Metallurgicheskiy Zavod Petrostal (Metallurgical Plant Petrostal Closed JSC) is a daughter company of one of the oldest metallurgical and machine building enterprises of Russia - the Open Joint Stock Company Kirovskiy Zavod (Kirov Plant) having more than a 200-year history.
Its establishment is linked to the name of Nikolay Ivanovich Putilov, a talented engineer and entrepreneur. The outstanding metallurgical engineers and scientists A.A.Iznoskov, N.I.Belyayev, N.T.Gudtsov worked there.
At present ZAO Metallurgicheskiy Zavod Petrostal includes nine departments: drop-hammer plant, steel plant, rolling-mill shop, press shop with open forging and heat treatment sections, foundry, machine shop, oxygen plant, metallurgical furnace repair shop and mechanical-repair department.
The Plant has at its disposal modern manufacturing equipment, employs highly skilled workers and engineering personnel.
The availability of own roll shop, an area for making hot dies and a modern laboratory base makes it possible to master within a short space of time the production of new rolling sections, casting blocks, forged pieces, stamped blanks as well as a wide range of machine building purpose parts. Out-of-furnace steel treatment ensures chemical composition stability, alloying accuracy and raising the level of the physical and mechanical properties of steel. The composition of the press-forging plant makes it possible to obtain blanks with a mass of 0.05 to 6,000 kg, with maximum allowances for machining. The enterprise has extensive experience in making all kinds of shaped castings with a mass of 0.05 to 6,000 kg from pig iron, steel and nonferrous alloys.
The Plant carries out capital repairs of metal-cutting equipment, press-forging plants and hoisting-and-conveying machinery, including those for making parts and spares of any complexity, as well as repairs of electric motors and electromagnets.
The Plant's products are delivered to customers by rail, motor and sea transport.
The main users of the Plant's products are automobile plants, tractor plants, hardware plants, enterprises of agricultural engineering, shipbuilding, motor manufacture and other industries of Russia and many countries of the near and far abroad. About 40% of rolled products as well as finished parts for machine building are marketed for export.
