Steel-making shop

The shop reconstruction was performed in 1975. Four steel-making furnaces with the capacity of 85 tons each are functioning in the shop. The scrap-process on hard chill of furnace charge is used for the manufacture of steel.

A ladle-furnace unit for secondary metallurgy manufactured by Fuchs was commissioned in 2003.
Steel pouring is performed on steel-teeming compositions by the siphon method into square-profiled ingots with the weight of 3.55 tons. The assembly and preparation of steel-teeming com-positions are carried out in a specialised division. Stripping, treat-ment and cooling of ingots are performed in a division with wells for decelerated cooling of ingots.

The manufacture of steels with increased treatability, regulated calcinations ability, tool steels as well as special purpose steels customised according to customer specifications have been de-veloped in the shop.

The annual steel output volume equals to more than 300 thousand tons.
