The Central Laboratory «TEST - METAL» ZAO Metallurgicheskiy Zavod Petrostal» (Petrostal Metal Works Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC)) was founded on the base of Russia's first factory laboratory created in 1904.
At present the laboratory is provided with modern testing equipment and accredited in the system of analytical laboratories. Its conformity to the requirements of GOST R ISOIEC 17025 - 2006 has been reaffirmed.
The laboratory carries out mechanical tests, expert examination and chemical analyses of materials.
The objects of expert examination are:
- Rolled products of ferrous metals (including blanks for export);
- Cold-drawn sectional steel;
- Roll-formed steel sections;
- Steel pipes;
- Castings;
- Forgings and stampings of ferrous metals and alloys;
- Pig iron, ferroalloys, alloying compositions and steel;
- Nonferrous metals, their raw materials, alloys and compounds;
- Rolled products of nonferrous metals;
- Welded metal constructions for machine building and metal working;
- Industrial purpose metalware - wire, bands, fasteners;
- Electrodes;
- Products of heavy engineering, power machine building and transport engineering;
- Ferrous metal scrap;
- Ashes and ash mixtures.
The laboratory carries out a nondestructive check and diagnostics of products by methods of radiography, ultrasonic flaw detection and thickness gauging, a capillary check, magnetic powder check, visual and measuring check:
- Of facilities within the jurisdiction of the Federal Ecological, Technological and Atomic Supervision Service;
- On federal rail transport.
Among the customers of the Central Laboratory there are more than 130 enterprises and organizations of the region and St. Petersburg
